I decided to try to grow tropical fruit plants again last year after my failed attempt previously. The failure was due to the fact that I grew them outdoors and thought I could protect them during the Winter by covering them. That did not worked so I planted the fruits in the pots this time and brought them inside the house. I put them by the window where the sunlight shines through over the winter. So far they are doing great. I can't put them outside yet since it is still 26 degrees at my neck of the woods. Anyway, here are the tropical fruit plants that I have.

My Dad taught us that when you chopped the crown of the pineapple, you can cultivate it by sticking it to the ground. That's how we always done it in the past and our backyard has always pineapples. I miss seeing pineapple flowers, it's been a long time.

| Avocado |
Another fruit that we always have in our backyard when I was a kid was avocado. It is very easy to grow and is a pleasure to harvest the fruit and enjoy the nuttiness of the fruit.

| Lemon |
I have been trying to grow a lemon tree since I got here in the US but it always dies. With this one, I think I am lucky. My son actually put the seeds of the lemon that we bought from Iowa when we had our road trip last year. When I brought it inside, there's only one leaf in it but now, it has grown quite a bit and I may need to transfer it into a bigger pot.
This miniature rose is what my husband gave e during Valentine's day. I always prefer this potted miniature roses over a bouquet because I can transplant them outside and I can enjoy it during summer time. I have plenty of them in my garden now. I have several office desk plants inside and it's screaming for some real sunlight. I hope that the weather will be warmer in the coming weeks. Below is indoor plants that I love and reminds me of the plants that we have had in the office when I was still working in school.
Having plants in the office can really sends clients an inviting environment. It also brings freshness in the office. Some companies hires professional to do this.

I love tropical plants, but I don't have any. Even though I live in the south, I just don't seem to have a green thumb when it comes to anything tropical. =(
I'd love to try my hand at tropical plants. Unfortunately, I'm so busy I forget to water my plants. I don't think I could handle murdering another leafy thing.

I need some greenery around in our house...that is actually living. I have a couple of fake flowers, because that's all I can keep alive :(
How awesome that the plants made it through winter. I have the biggest black thumb of all time, so I wouldn't have been able to do the same.
Way to go! I can't keep a plant alive to save my life. I even kill succulents. Here's to hoping I get a green thumb this Spring!

I wish we could have more plants, tropical or otherwise, in our home. Unfortunately, I don't have the green thumb that you do, lol
I need to follow in your footsteps and acquire some live plants. I'd love to take up gardening and growing as a hobby.

I have tropical plants in my backyard but I also live in Florida. It's only been a few times that I had to cover my hanging plants outdoors for a day or two. That's a great idea for those who can't.
That's great! I left my pineapple plant outside during the winter because bugs, mainly spiders were making it their home and didn't want to bring them inside too, so unfortunately it did not make it. :(

Your post reminds me of what my boss ended up doing this past winter with his plants. He suddenly showed up for work with a half dozen plants because he was tried of rebuying them every winter. And it worked! The plants looked fantastic in the office and they are ready to go back outdoors.
Well I can't keep plants alive in any weather, so I'm more than impressed. 'grats on the cool accomplishment. :)

Whaaat! Thats so wonderful! I couldn't keep any of my plants alive except for my spider plants and snake plants. But they're so easy anyway. lol.
glad to know that they survive and knowing that we do have a pretty terrible cold weather this winter...that' what we've do our banana plant is surely a survivor along with the rest of the tropical plants I planted.
Much as I love plants, I'm so horrible when it comes to keeping them alive. That's why I resorted to succulents since they're effortlessly easy to take care of.
I wish I was better at growing plants! That pineapple would be so fun to try.
How cool that you have tropical plants thriving indoors! I would have never thought of growing avocado. I'm not even going to get my hopes up about trying this out. I live in Upstate NY, and we have freezing temps, and not a lot of sunlight in the wintertime.
Those are nice looking plants. I do not have a green thumb when it comes to indoor plants. They all die on me.
Can't wait to see the fruits of your tropical plants, especially the pineapple. In our family, it's our Tatay who is fond of planting everything from fruits to vegetables to ornamental plants.
This is my first time to actually see pineapple flowers. It's great that those tropical plants can live and survive through such temperature.
