Papaya - Dengue Fever Remedy

This i received again from email and It;s very interesting. I like Filipino's ingenuity and innovative ways of creating treatments for certain illnesses.

"I would like to share this interesting discovery from a classmate's son who has just recovered from dengue fever. Apparently, his son was in the critical stage at the ICU when his blood platelet count drops to 15 after 15 liters of blood transfusion.

His father was so worried that he seeks another friend's recommendation and his son was saved. He confessed to me that he gave his son raw juice of the papaya leaves. From a platelet count of 45 after 20 liters of blood transfusion, and after drinking the raw papaya leaf juice, his platelet count jumps instantly to 135. Even the doctors and nurses were surprised. After the second day he was discharged. So he asked me to pass this good news around.

Accordingly it is raw papaya leaves, 2pcs just cleaned and pound and squeeze with filter cloth. You will only get one tablespoon per leaf. So two tablespoon per serving once a day. Do not boil or cook or rinse with hot water, it will loose its strength. Only the leafy part and no stem or sap. It is very bitter and you have to swallow it like "Won Low Kat". But it works."

*Papaya Juice - Cure for Dengue*

You may have heard this elsewhere but if not I am glad to inform you that papaya juice is a natural cure for dengue fever. As dengue fever is rampant now, I think it's good to share this with all.

A friend of mine had dengue last year. It was a very serious situation for her as her platelet count had dropped to 28,000 after 3 days in hospital and water has started to fill up her lung. She had difficulty in breathing. She was only 32-year old. Doctor says there's no cure for dengue. We just have to wait for her body immune system to build up resistance against dengue and fight its own battle. She already had 2 blood transfusion and all of us were praying very hard as her platelet continued to drop since the first day she was admitted.

Fortunately her mother-in-law heard that papaya juice would help to reduce the fever and got some papaya leaves, pounded them and squeeze the juice out for her. The next day, her platelet count started to increase, her fever subside. We continued to feed her with papaya juice and she recovered after 3 days!!!

Amazing but it's true. It's believed one's body would be overheated when one is down with dengue and that also caused the patient to have fever papaya juice has cooling effect. Thus, it helps to reduce the level of heat in one's body, thus the fever will go away. I found that it's also good when one is having sore throat or suffering from heat.

Please spread the news about this as lately there are many dengue cases. It's great if such natural cure could help to ease the sufferings of dengue patients.

Furthermore it's so easily available.
Blend them, squeeze the juice, drink immediately! It's simple and miraculously effective!!

More ways to Power UP in the morning.

The Ups and Downs of Cholesterol

Excess LDL cholesterol builds up on the walls of your arteries as plaque, which reduces blood flow and sets the stage for heart disease. But did you know that there is one type of cholesterol of which more is better. Cholesterol screening profiles your total cholesterol, including HDL, LDL, and triglycerides. Aim high for healthy HDL, which help protect against heart attack by slowing the buildup of plaques in the arteries.

*Limit saturated fat: Fatty meats, shortening, butter, cheese and whole-fat dairy products are primary sources.

*Cut out trans fats: These are common in processed foods such as snack foods, margarine, french fries and doughnuts. Check the labels and choose the foods with 0g trans fat

*Get moving and lose excess weights: Both changes will help aise healthy HDL and lower LDL levels.

Dont Forget: Quiting smoking and getting regular check ups are also weys to keeping your cholesterol on track for heart protection.

On Course to a Healthier You

Did you know that you are more likely to reach your health goals when you stay focused on the positive returns? Its true. It's easier to keep moving in a healthy direction when you are moving forward to a reward. It could be added energy for activities you enjoy, feeling and looking better, or a renewed sense of well-being.4 Ways to Stay the Course
1. Select One goal area, such as exercise to focus on.

2. Write down your expectations and three realistic actions you can start today.

3. Post your expectations and plan of action where you can see them everyday.

4. Start small - major changes made overnight can be hard to maintain. Take it one step and one day at a time. Say for example, you can start with 10 minute walks and add 5 minutes per week until you can fit in at least 30 minutes daily.

Every time we go to church on Sundays, our daughter loves making bead jewelry at the nursery section of the chapel. When we went to the mall on Valentine's day, she asked us if we could buy her beads so she have her own set. She was very happy that we agreed. She told us "You made me very very happy today Mom and Dad, I really want to have my own for a long time and you made it come true, thank you!"Here are some of her fisnished products.

Something happened yesterday that scared my wife to death. You can find out about it on her blog.. Thanks for visiting and commenting guys!

Deli Dangers

The next time you consider purchasing deli meat, think twice—there could be health dangers lurking behind the counter. Here is some critical information that you should know before making or buying your next sandwich

Read on for vital tips on what and what not to eat at the deli.
How to Avoid Deli Dangers
Before you give up your favorite sandwich for good, try these tips:

1. Check for the heart-check mark on meat packages. Heart checked packages indicate that the product is certified by the American Heart Association to be low in saturated fat and cholesterol. To find lists of certified deli meats, go to these websites for deli department meats and pre-sliced deli meats.

2. Reduce your intake of processed meats such as bologna, sausage, salami and hot dogs.

3. “Healthy” meats can be high in calories, sodium and saturated fat. Make sure to read the health information labels on the back of pre-packaged meats before making your purchase.

4. When looking for processed sandwich meats select low-fat turkey, chicken, turkey ham, turkey pastrami or lean boiled ham. Check the amount of sodium; some have 25% or more of the daily value. These need to be avoided.

5. Try finding healthier brands. Many companies now produce organic, nitrite-free deli meats that are much better for you than the usual deli counter fare.

6. Avoid meats that list sodium nitrite as an ingredient.

7. If you are pregnant, heat hot dogs, luncheon meats, or deli meats to 160 degrees.

8. With some thought and a little bit of investigation, your sandwich will be healthy, and keep you healthy long after it’s gone.

A father's tribute.

I was watching an episode of Mike Huckabee on Fox News and he had Steven Curtis Chapman on for a guest appearance. Mr. Chapman told about the death of his daughter Maria and performed "Cinderella". Check out the video tribute. I thought this was a real "tear-jerker".

the BIG 40

Yep, it's true, I'm 40 today. My loving wife and kids got me this great birthday card and keepsake for my big day. I also got a really nice Korean style Cream Cake (they're awesome). Rose asked me this morning, "Do you feel 40?" I replied, "Yes I do".
I'm still a kid at heart and I stay active but whenever I think of my age I realize, more and more, that I am approaching the end of the journey and it makes me feel a sense of urgency to do more with my time.

Carnival Cruise

These photos were taken when we first took Rylie to a carnival in our town two years ago. Rose didn't go with us because she was having hard time with her tummy already, my sister Crystal was the one who went with us. We thought for sure that my daughter will be scared to ride the rides but she didn't, she actually enjoyed it. This is the care bears that Rylie won from the fish ball toss..

Probiotic Power

Making yogurt a part of your everyday diet may keep the doctor away--that is, if you eat enough of it and if it contains plenty of the right stuff. While many of us go out of our way to avoid exposing ourselves to bacteria and to kill any we do come in contact with, the truth is that swallowing certain bacteria could actually enhance your health. The beneficial bacteria are called probiotics and are often present in yogurt, kefir (a drink made with fermented milk) and milk cultured with Lactobacillus acidophilus.

Probiotics is a term for good bacteria, eaten in food or taken in supplements, that have been shown in clinical studies to benefit humans by preventing the bad bacteria you come in contact with from causing illness or disease, explains Manfred Kroger, Ph.D., professor emeritus of food science at Penn State University in University Park, PA. "Good bacteria help stabilize our bodies' daily processes." About a dozen bacterial species have specific strains that have been identified as probiotic.

head inside a net

Our daughter was so stout when she was a baby. We love her wrinkled legs and chubby cheeks. She was the apple of my family's eyes. She got used to that until our son was born. She was a little bit jealous when we first brought EJ in our house. But she got used to it eventually. Now they get along well except for sometime when both of them wants to dominate hehehe..

Super Bowl Seat

Read this funny jokes guys, am sure this will complete your day hahaha!
A Steeler fan had 2-50 yard line tickets for the Super Bowl. As he sits down, another man comes down and asked him if anyone is sitting in the seat next to him.

"No", he said, "the seat is empty".

"This is incredible" said the man.” Who in their right mind would have a seat like this for the Super Bowl, the biggest sporting event in the world, and not use it?"

Somberly, the Steeler fan says,

"Well...the seat actually belongs to me.

I was supposed to come here with my wife, but she passed away. This is the first Super Bowl we have not been together since we got married in 1967."

"Oh I'm sorry to hear that. That's terrible. But couldn't you find someone else - a friend or relative or even
neighbor to take the seat?"

The man shakes his head, "No. They're all at the funeral."

We need to buy....

It's been a month since we last talked to my dad and Rylie reminded us today to buy a phone card so we could call him again. The land line service that we are using right now is difficult to use in calling overseas because we can't understand the language. Besides, it's cheaper to just buy a phone card anyway.

EJ was only two months old in this picture. I don't think he will be able to remember my Dad when we go back there. But we see to it that we let him hear Dad's voice whenever we're talking.

TAP class

I will be attending a class in Japan next week in preparation for my retirement in the service. This class will orient and give us tips on how to deal with the real world. It's different working in the service than outside so we have to be ready, I'm a little worried about that hehehe. Hopefully I could get a good paying job, so wish me luck guys!

Tomlinson Run 2008

One of the things that we miss when we were back in West Virginia is the bond we have with Dad. We always goes somewhere with him, which my siblings often wonder how we convince him to go with us. My wife is very good with that hehehe.. The photos below were taken when we went fishing with my Dad at Tomlinson Run, its a 20 minutes drive from our home....

By the way, we didn't catch any fish but we certainly had fun with my father. Roaming around the creek was good enough and the best reward is the bonding we made with Dad. Plus we got to enjoy the beauty of the mother earth.

Steelers' Victory!

Yeah Baby, Steelers Won, hurray! I think seventy five percent of the sailors who came and watched the super bowl were cheering for AZ Cardinals and only 25% of us were steelers fan. So everytime the AZC scores, it felt like the walls are rocking but when the steelers score, were just clapping our hands. But when the game was over, we're like YEAH Baby YEAH!
I gotta go to bed now my friends, thank you very much for your visit and comments! Good night!

Photographer in the Making

I kind of believe now of the saying that "like mother, like daughter". Our daughter love taking pictures as much as her mother does. My wife and I are cuddling yesterday and our daughter told us to pose so she could take a picture of us. This is her snapshot, it wasn't that perfect but I think she has potentials hehehe..She took some more today when her mom was so busy in the computer. Here they are..
