Veteran's Day 2016

On Veteran's day, my husband came home  early  from work.  I feel bad that he has to work on a holiday  that is celebrated  specially for veterans like him.  I wish companies will give veterans a day off  but that is a wishful thinking since a lot of companies does not give that  privilege to Veteran employees.
Our  sweet kids  made personalized cards for their Dad.  They also made one for their Grandpa.
As soon as he got done eating, we went  to Hopedale Ohio and visited my father-in-law at Gables Care Center.  He is a world war 2 veteran, although he can no longer recognize us, it is important that we visit him as much as we can.  I just wish that  he lives nearby so we can visit often.  He was out cold  when we arrived, I think he just got his medicines  so he was sleeping when we came.
Even though we did not get a chance to talk to my FIL, we have enjoyed the Fall foliage on the way.
It sad not to be able to see my FIL as much as we would like to.  It is also sad that when he got the Alzheimer's disease, that's when our relationship with the other  family member  was shaken.  I hope that in time, we can reconcile and get back to  the way we were.  In time, wound might heal, we just need time.

It is very sad when our parents get Alzheimer or pre -dementia. Our mother is half in half out. I wished medicine find a cure for this disease. May you find peace and happiness while working out the family stuff.

It is so nice that you take the children to visit your FIL even though he may not recognize anyone. We visit a very dear and precious friend who sometimes doesn't remember us but he is also a WWII veteran and we think it is important to support him.

It sounds like you had a lovely veterans day. Isn't it sad when our loved ones can no longer remember us such an awful illness.

It is such an awful thing to deal with. Alzheimers is so heartbreaking for both the person that it happens to it on the family members. I hope that you all can have healing with the rest of the family soon.

Watching a loved one deal with medical illness is such a tough thing to deal with. We are going through something similar and it's so hard. Hang in there.

Alzheimer's/pre-dementia is never easy to work with but your family seems so strong and loving! The cards they made for their father and grandfather are so sweet.

I have always felt when you visit someone, they always have a way of knowing that you are there. They may not show it, but I just have faith that they do.

Beautiful pictures of the tree. The fruit looks edible. Is it?

My grandmother had alzheimers and it was heartbreaking that she didn't recognize any of us. She was deteriorating right in front of us :(

Thank you to your husband and father in law for their service. Prayers to your family as you are dealing with Alzheimer. I am a nurse at a nursing home and understand the toll it can take on a family.
