Trumpet Vine, to Keep or Cut?

My Trumpet Vine is now blooming.  Hubby still think that we should cut it and plant a tree on that corner.  But I still insist that I like it there because it serves as a roof for the corner I put the Virgin Mary statue in.   Besides the  trumpet vine also attracts humming birds when in bloom.

    Oh that is a lovely spot for the trumpet vine sis. no, don't cut it all but just trim it.
