Dig Pink

Saw this "Dig Pink to Beat Cancer" sign when we went to the store a few weeks ago.  I was planning to  post this  for Pink Saturday   a couple of weeks back but forgot wahhh.

Keeping Warm on Winter

Having a warm home during winter time does not only consist of having  the best heating system.  There are other factors that contributes to   low  energy bills such as having a good insulation in your  attic and having a well-insulated  windows and doors. That is one concern we have with our home, the insulation is not  so god that's why we have such a massive electric gas bill during winter times    .  We sometime puts on our electric heater especially during night time because the bedrooms are  cold.

Too bad the Creative Energy Exteriors website is down for maintenance, I was going to canvass for prices about window replacement as it is one of their  expertise.  Their services includes replacement of windows, door, sidings, roofing, sun rooms, and custom built decks.  I'll  Visit www.CreativeEnergyExteriors.com again next time because I want to know their pricing about sun rooms   We are planning to have  an  add-on sun room to replace our small back porch in the future.

Right now, our heater is continuously kicking on  because it is so cold outside.   Good thing, we have  two extra portable heaters  that we can use whenever we want to stay at the basement because it is so cold down there.  We closed the vent  down there so all the  warm air will come up so when the kids wants to play in their play area, I  plug or portable heater to keep them warm.

Winter is not my favorite season because I am not used to it.  I grew up in a tropical country and living here  was a big adjustment for me especially during winter times.  My nose gets dry and sometimes bleed and I can't stand being outside for a long time so even if I want to play with my kids,,  I just can't.

Christmas at Home

My husband thinks were funny when me and the kids put up our Christmas tree last Veteran's Day lol. I'd like to decorate early for Christmas because I like to enjoy it a little bit longer.  Well not long enough for it to reach Valentine's day but 6 weeks or so.

The fiber optic  tree below was given  to the kids by my Father-in-law last year.    I got tiny  ornaments  to hang  on it  at Listia.  The Santa  at the bottom of the tree is my husband's  ever since he was a kid so my FIL gave it to the kids as well.

I put some Christmas touch in our kitchen window.  I used the Christmas  glasses that the former owner of this house has given us and filled it with some  balls and the pink and violet cup cakes ornaments that I won at a giveaway last year.

I bought the Thomas the train hooks to hang the  stockings at a thrift store.  The cute  tree  that is made of tulle is the prize I won last year from one of the giveaways I entered.  I forgot about it already as it wasn't delivered last year but the host of the giveaway contacted me last  month and said that she hasn't forgotten me lol.  The color green and red of the tulle is perfect for the  snow man that I won at an auction site.

The kids wanted to create a tree  out of the  plush toys and other stuffed animals they have and that's the closest thing we've  created.  Holly is the star of that tree.

Potty Training a Pup

Photo isn't mine

I am so glad that  it didn't take long for us to potty trained our new pup, Bolt.  Within  few weeks of training him, he was already housebroken  which I am very happy about.  We are just fortunate that we have him during summer time because it wasn't  that hard to bring him in and out the back yard.  We actually potty trained him faster than  our Jack Russel Terrier, Champ.     I am a happy  camper that both of them are house broken as it is very hard to clean a soiled carpet  when they do have an accidents.

For those who doesn't have time to potty trained their pet, did you know that you can buy  an indoor pet potty?  Yep, you could.  Just like what you see at the photos.    A friend of mine actually use  the same product  like this one when she was potty training her dog, Maggie.  You can find this product at Modern Puppies website.  Isn't it amazing how technology advances.  Everything has a solution  to an issue such as pet potty training and other  things that has to do with your  lovely furry babies.  It's actually not hard to potty train a pup,  the thing is, you have to have a discipline for yourself and  instill discipline for your pup as well.

Pens a & Crayons

I love the shadows of my pen collection on the wall.  I like to collect unique pens, magnets, and   mugs.  These are the odd three that I love collecting.  Hubby said that I should let go of the mugs I have but I want to hold on to it for now.

Ripley's Believe it or Not!

I love watching TV shows that are extra ordinary, the out of this world kind of  things like the Ripley’s Believe It Or Not!  Some of those things that they  show at the  said show  is so bizaare  that you would think twice if it's really real or not.  As I have said, I love that kind of shows because it makes you think, it makes you pause and  ponder on things.  It made you  realize that there are  people out there who are very unique and capable of doing things, unimaginable things, that  no one can do but them.  If you are a fun of the show, just like me, I am sure that you are aware of the book that they published some of the most  memorable episodes that they show on TV.  This year, the book publishing has a twist.  You can actually download an app that would let you see the the hidden  content in the book to come alive.

Ripley's Believe It or Not! Download the Weird is  packed with the weirdest but coolest fact about Titanic, the real life story of the elephant man, and many more  crazy stuff.  So if you want to meet the world's oddest couple who does crazy stuff, this book is for you.  This is a great  option to give as a gift this Christmas.  If you  have a friend or know someone who loves the show, I am sure that they would love the new  book with a twist.  Don't forget to download the app when you buy the book.  You can download through iTunes or just follow the  link provided above.  Watch the video below for more information.

Perks of Blogging

Unexpected crashing of  your computer unit is one of the  unwanted  expense that you have to deal with but it's necessary especially if you are a a work-at-home kind of person like me.  Unexpected prizes are always a delight.  I received  a Gorton plate last week but I am not sure how I got it since I can't remember  entering a giveaway about it.  I also received the prize that one of my blogging friends  have hosted in her blog, thanks Mel!  Lastly, I was surprised when one of the companies sent me a piece of clothing to review  with a ripped tag.

Work Station at Home

I organized my computer desk last weekend. It's hard to keep the house organize when you have kids. Things lay around everywhere, I get frustrated sometimes but that's what the role of mothers are right? To clean up and straighten the things up.. Abc5nsxfw8dxixfjc7mii0etqornighw

Allen Roth Planter

A lot of the the planters at Lowe's are on sale now so I snagged this Allen Roth,  classic style with a modern twist planter.  I plan to get three more of this next time so I can replace the small pots that I have used for my indoor plants below.
The Yucca Cane  is one of those  plants on sale that I  bought a couple of weeks back.  This kind of plants are good in patios or even inside the house.
It's so  cold and has been raining at our end, how's your weather  out there.

Magical Rose Garden

I cut some more roses  from my garden and  enjoy it's scent inside  my kitchen.  Enjoying a quiet moment  while sipping your coffee and smelling the sweet scent of roses is quite  awesome!

The next day, they were all opened.  I got some more coming up outside and would cut them before  the snow comes.

"One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon instead of enjoying the roses
that are blooming outside our windows today. "

Planting Bulbs

(1) Miracle-GroI planted the tulip bulbs that I bought in the store  a couple of months ago.  I am not sure if it will  grow or not especially after  watching the  video on how to plant bulbs at Gardenieres website.  I followed  the direction  at the box of the bulbs but I found some great tips  on the video below  from Teena Spindler that I could have incorporated  and did  but it's too late now.  I just hope that I would  see  some growth  next spring, keeping my fingers crossed.  I did put some Miracle  Gro to the ground  before I put the  bulbs so let us see if it will help it.

Anyhow, if you want to  see some ideas and  tips from fellow gardeners, both pro and amateur, like the Miracle-Gro Facebook page and connect with  other green thumbs  worldwide.  I am sure that you will enjoy interacting with other gardeners  from the site.  Also, don't forget to check out the website I mentioned above as they have  videos available that talks about different  ideas about gardening.  You can watch one of them below.  Share your ideas and then gain some  for a greener and beautiful  garden!

No Good in Bed

My yellow rose is still blooming till now.  I keep cutting it and  putting it in my flower vase inside.
I find this quote by Eleanor Roosevelt  very funny.
"I once had a rose named after me and I was very flattered. But I was not pleased to read the description in the catalogue: no good in a bed, but fine up against a wall. "

Ordinary to Extra Ordinary

Online applications can turn ordinary photos into extra ordinary.
I miss you, little sissy!

The Right Gift for the Oddball in the Family

There is always the one odd sheep out of the flock – and that is the one we always seem to have a problem finding the right Christmas gift for. This is the “odd duck,” the person who has everything, or likes the unusual gift. This is the person you really need to spend some time thinking about.

When it comes to Christmas gift giving, you want to find something unusual like a special kind of memorabilia like a movie related item or even interesting clothing garment with a fun slogan or saying. Finding the right gift for this special person is not all that hard, you just have to put yourself in their shoes and figure out what this person would think of as being cool, fun and interesting.

The Non-Typical Gadget
Just because your friend or family member appears to have everything he could ever want, doesn’t mean he can’t appreciate an unusual gadget or two. Give him something interesting like the Blabber Meter clock that shows how much money its’ costing your friend to listen to other people’s mindless chatter. If this isn’t your style then maybe you’ll consider a scrolling led light belt buckle or the high tech MP3 sunglasses for your high-tech loving friend.

The Clean Gift
You can always opt for natural soaps, spa creams, moisturizers and scrubs. These always make an acceptable gift, but you can make it even more interesting by adding the natural deodorant stone or the cool De Odor Works product (a stainless steel hourglass-shaped metal that works as a deodorant when used with water). This could be a cool gift, providing your friend or family member doesn’t feel offended by it.

Film and T.V. Memorabilia
This also makes a great gift, especially for the film or T.V. buff. Think of movie posters, signed movie scripts or even fun T-shirts. You might consider something like one of the great Doctor Who Tees, if your friend or family member is a part of the unique Dr. Who T.V. show fan. Dr Who, a famous BBC program first aired in 1963 and later made into a 1996 T.V. film.

Bottom Line
There are actually many appropriate gifts for the person that has it all. But finding the right one requires just a little thought, online research and planning. Often, the right gift for this person won’t come from a regular department store, but instead, from an online boutique or specialty store.

Oversize Pumpkin

Just some of the interesting and spooky displays  at the farm we visited.

I find old stuff very interesting specially old farm equipment.
Okay, look at the kid on the side and look at the size of the pumpkin... oversize!
Have a great week ahead everyone!

Green Bug

I don't know what kind of insect this is but it's color green is appealing.

Spider Display

I took a quick snap of this grandpa and grandson tandem who were buying snack at a pop corn station at the farm we recently visit.
The big spider display and the hat of the guy makes a perfect combo!

Bourne Ultimatum

As I was writing this post, the Bourne Ultimatum movie is in my mind lol.  My pumpkin and  the movie is not related at all but I gave this pumpkin plant an ultimatum that if  she doesn't bear fruit, I would pull her out.
A week after I told her that, I saw these two fruits!
Yeah I know, it's weird that I talk to my plants but I just got frustrated that I plant pumpkin every year but I never got any fruit,  so this year, I  pulled a strategy and that's to give her ultimatum lol.
Have you ever talked to a plant before?  I know, it's "NUTTY" but it works!  I do that all the time with my  flowering plants.

Halloween Candies

The  costumes that I bought for my children has arrived the other day and they can not wait to put them on  on Halloween day.  We will be doing trick or treating  at our neighborhood because our neighbor wants to see the kids in costume and they want to give them some treats and halloween candy .  They told us that  we should let the kids trick or treat our  neighborhood  because they miss the kids.  For the  past years, we always go to my father-in-law's  place and do our trick or treating there but this year, we will do it here first then go to Dad's later on.

Skull Lollipops 17ct Halloween Candy
Photo isn't mine
Talking about Halloween candies,  check out the selection  at Blair Candy website.  They have these spooky looking kinds of candies that would be fun to hand out  to kids during Halloween day.  I bet the kids would be thrilled to get  one of these  skull shaped pops  that I saw at Blair Candy.  There are so many  tricky treats that you can buy from that online store that would surely give delight to the faces of the treaters at your  porch  on the Halloween day.  Check out the site by visiting the link I have provided in this post.

Mums

My mums are in full bloom now, I only have one color and  plant to get  yellow and orange  next time.
Have a good day!

Smiley Pumpkin

We picked the two pumpkins that we have in the backyard  yesterday.   The Burritos decided to  put a smiley face on the yellow one's bottom.  I put the green one in a  Fall wreath.
We also bought three pumpkins during our   visit at Janoski's Farm last weekend.
We put it in front of our  porch  with  some hay that we   bought from the store.
There you go, our simple  decor from mother Nature.  Wishing you all a great week ahead!
