Nostalgia # 7 - Clock I Made

Every time I see this old clock, I'm reminded of junior high shop class. This was the second project that I completed that year. I can still remember attaching the number and assembling the moving parts. At the time, I thought that the motor would only last about a year because the internal gears and parts are made of plastic. I am amazed that it still works to this day and keeps perfect time. Even more amazing is the battery life that we got from a single AA battery. I installed the original battery in the latter part of 1981 and it managed to hang on until around the year 2000. I wouldn't have thought it was possible but I seen it with my own eyes.

Taking photos while Relaxing

My wife was relaxing on a swing at my Dad's porch during her birthday two weeks ago and she was also busy taking photos of the sky that day lol. These two are some of those shots.

Which shot do you think like among these two?

Happy sky watching everyone. Thanks for visiting my page.

Maple Leaves

Taken by my wife during one of our family walk around the block. We went to the part where there is a little bit of woods and let the kids explore to the wild creatures.
Hope everyone is having a good Sunday.

Shadows in the Park

Now that summer is in full swing, we see to it that the kids can play and enjoy the outdoors. I feel bad for them when winter rolls up because they are stuck inside the house. The photos below were taken last month when we brought them at Starvaggi Park.

It's amazing how kids can just immediately mingle with other kids. Whenever we take our kids to play in park or play area, they can just run to other kids and socialize with them.

Letting them play during the day help them sleep good during night time.

Kids are so adventurous, they never get scared of trying to do things.
We had so much fun, even my wife and I play there like we're one of them lol.

Have a nice weekend everyone!

Nostalgia # 6 - Family Name on a Scroll

My entry, for this week's Nostalgia, is a photo of a scroll that we bought in Korea from a famous Calligrapher. Many of his works are in museums and other government buildings throughout the Republic of South Korea. At first, this looks like a set of three, but a closer look reveals that they are not a matching set. However, since they are very similar, we hung them together. The small set is a gift from a Filipina friend that we met while living in Korea. She bought them as a souvenir when she visited China.

The Korean writing indicates our Family name and our first names. The large word means LOVE in English.

Motorcycle Ride

We visited our family friend last weekend and the kids had so much fun trying to ride on their motorcycles. Each of them has a motorcycle. Here are some fun shots we took.

"I want one of this", he said.

Can I have one too when I grow up?

Have a nice week ahead folks!

Dean's List

I received a letter from my school today and my wife was absolutely delighted. It's a letter from the Dean of the School of Business stating that I made the Dean's List for the Spring 2010 semester. They enclosed this nice certificate to honor my academic accomplishment. My wife consistently made the Dean's list, when she attended college, so now the pressure is on me to do the same. Hopefully, I can keep it up until I graduate.

Our Basement's Old Look

This was how our old basement looked like when we first bought the house. It was pretty rotten in some areas, especially the bathroom/shower area. We spent few of thousand dollars to fix it up and it was really worth the investment. (Will post the new look soon). It took several days to complete this project. My dad helped me with most of the back-breaking work and my wife and daughter helped with the rest. Below are some pics of what it used to look like before we remodeled.

Reminiscing Korea

Once in a while, my wife and I misses the life we had in Korea especially when we are driving somewhere. In Korea, driving is not boring even if it's a long drive because everything is well landscaped and decorated. Even the mountains have stuff that you can see. I mean I love being back home but we can't help but reminisce the memories we built over there with the kids.

These photos were taken during one of our family walk inside the ROK Navy base. We used to have fun walking around the town or inside the ROK base.

Even the kids misses it too.

Hope everyone had a lovely Sunday. We just got back from my Dad. We went straight there after attending the mass from church.

Cotton Candy

I am not sure what this plant is called but when it blooms it looks like cotton candy. This is a tree in front the my dad's neighbor's yard. Whenever the flowers starts to fall off, they're everywhere.

Exhausted and a dose of Snooze

After playing so hard at Tomlinson Run Park last Friday, our son said "I am ready to go home!" On the way home he fell asleep.
We dropped by at my father's house to visit him and laid EJ on the couch.
A couple of minutes later, he sat up and went back to sleep.
Zzzzhhhhh, someone is enjoying his sleep lol.
